How to choose the right sauna

Red cedar infrared sauna interior

Shanghai Mars Industrial is a sauna manufacturer and exporter. We build personal saunas, home sauna kits and commercial sauna rooms in our own factory and supply them to distributors, retailers, hotels, gyms and spas, with private label and custom builds available. Filter the catalogue by heater type, capacity, wood and voltage, or start with the three questions below.

1. Infrared or traditional heat?

An infrared sauna warms the body mainly by radiant heat from carbon, ceramic or red glass heaters, with an operating range of about 18–65 °C (64–149 °F) on our models. It preheats quickly and many models run on 110–120V. A traditional sauna, sometimes called a dry, wet or Finnish sauna, heats the air and a load of stones with a stove to about 60–100 °C (140–212 °F); ladling water over the stones adds a burst of steam. Our types of saunas guide explains Finnish, infrared, steam and wood-fired designs.

2. How many people?

CapacityExterior widthRated power
1 person90–117 cm (35–46 in)1,100–1,760 W
2 person90–200 cm (35–79 in)1,400–3,475 W
3 person150–175 cm (59–69 in)1,800–2,770 W
4–6 person150–200 cm (59–79 in)2,150–3,475 W

Widths and power are for infrared and indoor cabins in the catalogue; outdoor barrels and cabins are sized separately. A small home sauna for one or two people fits a spare room, while a 6 person sauna suits a gym or hotel. The sauna finder matches models to your room and number of users.

3. Which power supply and wood?

Most cabins are offered in 110–120V or 220–240V configurations; each product page lists voltage options and rated power. Larger cabins and stove saunas usually need 220–240V and a dedicated circuit. Most cabins are built in Canadian hemlock or western red cedar, and some outdoor and traditional models use pine or spruce.

Where to buy a sauna from us

We sell to businesses: retailers, online stores, distributors, contractors and operators. Prices are quoted per order because they depend on model, quantity, customization and shipping terms. Many models list CE and ETL certification, and some also list RoHS, TÜV and ISO 9001. Read how to import saunas from China, then send your model list through the quote form. Cabins ship as single items in export cartons with panels pre-assembled.

FAQ

How much does a sauna cost?

Sauna cost depends on the type, size, wood, heaters, controls and quantity, plus freight, duties and installation. A compact infrared cabin and a large outdoor stove sauna sit far apart. We quote per order; our guide on how much a sauna costs breaks down buying, building and running costs.

Are your saunas made in the USA?

No. Our saunas are made in our own factory in China and exported worldwide. For North America we build US-standard 110–120V cabins, and many models list CE and ETL certification. Certification applies to a specific build, so request certificate copies for the exact model and voltage you order.

What is the best home sauna?

The best home sauna depends on the room, the number of users and the power supply. Infrared cabins suit indoor rooms and often run on 110–120V. Traditional stove saunas suit buyers who want high heat and steam. Outdoor barrels and cubes suit gardens. The sauna finder narrows models by space and capacity.

Do you sell saunas to distributors and retailers?

Yes. We manufacture and export infrared, traditional and outdoor saunas, cold plunge tubs and accessories for distributors, retailers and commercial projects. Catalogue models can be quoted from small trial orders, and OEM builds with your branding or layouts are available. Send models and quantities for a quote.

What is the difference between a steam sauna and a dry sauna?

A dry sauna heats air and stones with a stove and keeps humidity low. Ladling water onto the stones briefly raises humidity, which many people call a steam or wet sauna. A steam room is different: a sealed room filled with steam from a generator at lower temperature and near full humidity.
